The in vitro fertilization (IVF) process involves several steps, including:
A course of fertility medication in order to produce multiple eggs and mature them ready for collection
A sperm sample is collected (or donor sperm is thawed) and a procedure takes place under sedation to collect the eggs from the ovaries
Embryos are grown in the lab or 5-6 days or frozen for FET

There is no official age limit for IVF treatment. In the UK, the NHS will provide one cycle to those aged 40 to 42, however we support those of all ages at Apricity. There are also other options including IVF with donor eggs which are often more successful for women over 40.
Choosing the genetic sex of an embryo is possible during IVF. This requires testing before implantation into the womb. However this is only allowed in the UK for extreme medical reasons such as gender based genetic diseases.
